The Secrets of Proxy Wars

Iran and Israel rarely fight directly. Instead, they use other groups — this is called a "proxy war".

Iran funds Hezbollah in Lebanon and supports Hamas in Gaza. These groups attack Israel through rockets and guerrilla warfare. On the other side, Israel uses its spy agency, Mossad, to stop Iranian plans in secret ways.

One major event was the cyberattack called Stuxnet. In 2010, Iran’s nuclear facility was damaged by a computer virus. It was silent, clean — and reportedly created by Israel and the US. This was war, but not with guns.

Israel also reportedly assassinated several Iranian nuclear scientists. Iran hit back by supporting attacks on Israeli interests in other countries.

This wasn’t just a local issue anymore — it was global, digital, and deadly.
